As you might already know, Arden and I are in the middle of planning something pretty huge - we’re hoping that as soon as possible, we can get married, apply for a UK marriage visa, and live over here. To achieve this, we’re doing the following:
- I’m about to graduate with a BA in English and Philosophy, and I’m throwing myself into looking for jobs with about as much gusto as I possibly can - we’re talking about applying for more or less anything in the creative sectors.
- Although relying on them might be problematic, it seems like Arden’s family and mine might be able to chip in to some extent.
That’s about the extent of where we are - Arden’s currently unable to work due to a few personal/mental issues, and I’m not working right this second because I still have a little while to go before I finish studying. And while the above two will definitely help, we could use all the help we can get.
Here’s the thing: moving abroad is expensive. There’s flights - for me to get there and back for the wedding, and for Arden to leave the country. There’s the cost of a marriage visa, which is $1363 alone. And while we’re not planning to have a big party, there are a few basic costs associated with getting married that need to be covered. If you donate - and it can be anything at all, don’t feel bad if it’s just a dollar - then that’s all your money will go towards.
That’s important: we just want to be together, so the important costs are always going to come first. We won’t be using cash from strangers to fund some extravagant wedding reception, or a honeymoon, or anything that could feasibly be cut. We’re talking about the bare essentials - legal entry into the UK for Arden, and the things we need to do to secure that legal entry.
Please. I love Arden more than anything, and if you want to throw a little more love our way, you can share this post around and donate by clicking here.
In advance: thank you.
