  • The Guardian and a few others report that during the 7/7 memorial segment of last night’s Olympic opening ceremony, NBC cut to a vapid interview with Michael Phelps by Ryan Fucking Seacrest. Rather than get angry about this, I have a solution: next time the US uses an international media event to remember the victims of 9/11, I think we should cut to an interview segment where Mr. Blobby interviews Andy Murray. Because seriously, NBC, fuck you.
  • Adding idiocy to injury, apparently the US commentary last night was fucking abysmal, at its peak when Meredith Vieira was proud that she’d never heard of the inventor of the internet. Granted - the everyday person on the street might not know it, but someone reporting on one of the brightest British inventors of the last century when he’s about to take centre-stage in a globally-broadcast event might do well to do their research in advance, so they don’t come across as legitimising the utter fucking stupidity that a shit-ton of NBC’s audience are likely already proud of.
  • Finally, the Chicago Sun-Times with the shittiest headline ever written.

I am not the biggest fan of the US media today, if you hadn’t guessed.
