Watched: Layer Cake

Observations:

  • I already sort of half-watched this film once, but I’ve never sat down and devoted my full attention to it.
  • All one hundred minutes fly by. Matthew Vaughn’s an electrifying director.
  • I couldn’t tell if the bits where Daniel Craig wields a gun are funny because he’s James Bond, or because he looks a bit silly.
  • So many familiar faces. Not just the obvious ones. Bane! Kingsley Shacklebolt! Owen from Torchwood! Fucking Dumbledore!
  • Actually, it got to a point where the familiarity was a little unnerving. It’s the same reason I can’t bring myself to watch Band of Brothers yet.
  • I’m trying to think of how many trick endings there were, and I count… four? That might be optimistic.
  • Electrifying. The most fun I’ve had watching a film in a while.
