Watched: Moon
Observations:
- So, here’s something: even with the (numerous) twists and turns already known, this film still remains fantastic. If anything, the removal of the intrigue allowed me more room to appreciate Sam Rockwell’s performance, which is phenomenal.
- It’s not a huge spoiler to say that Rockwell plays two roles in this film, and that he’s so good at playing off himself and communicating every emotion with raw honesty is really testament to his power as an actor. He’s often sidelined into purely comedic or off-beat roles, but this challenges the perception that wisecracks are all he can pull off.
- Also worth noting is the fact that Kevin Spacey plays a big silly robot and it never once feels hackneyed or stupid. There’s an incredibly touching scene at the end that’s rendered exclusively in emoticons and Spacey’s voice, and it’s a perfect coda to a perfect film.
- Still can’t get over the fact that Matt Berry is in this. Not after watching Snuff Box.
- I’d already seen this twice before, but it goes without saying that if you haven’t seen this already you absolutely should.
