Just read: Living Dolls: The Return of Sexism, by Natasha Walter.

This was sort-of enlightening, even though I was already on the same page for a lot of what it talks about - a hypersexualised culture that can be just as oppressive as the anti-sex culture of the fifties. It’s a good opening gambit, and while there are issues with it - Walter’s too vague when it comes to discussing the porn industry, colouring it instead with sweeping strokes where talking about it as an industry full of drugs and prostitution goes unchecked, and it’s heavily portrayed as a relationship-wrecker, but altogether it’s pretty good for a general interest book (as a piece of feminist theory, it’s questionable, but only because it chooses not to bore with extensive sourcing). Check it out if you’re into understanding people better.
