It is no secret that people on the internet tend to prefer short pithiness than long, rambling pieces that might get around to making a point if you take your time; having said that, the response to a question I answered on Quora has been more than a little strange. I am an unknown now - I have just over a hundred followers here, and six on Quora, so having more than a dozen people register their interest in a thing that I do without openly posting pictures of my dick feels a little alien.

Maybe it’s because the answer played to the masses - the righteous furies of people who say that your literary preference says nothing about your masculinity or femininity - and people like to be validated in an online space. I can get into trouble for this - I’ve caused one or two awkward silences when I’ve talked in my workplace about Fifty Shades of Grey being trash, even though talking about it openly here seems to be received pretty warmly. On the internet, you nod at what you already like and yell at what you don’t. It is not like real life.
