Watched: House of Cards, Season 3.
Is there any point in talking about this? I can’t help but assume that everyone who wants to see it has already seen it, so discussing it in general terms feels a little redundant.
Parts of this show feel operatic in scope, but the best element is the human drama at the center of it all. Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood gains a few layers of complexity in this season, still motivated by an insatiable thirst for power but holding enough that his ugly little heart is given the (doomed) opportunity to grow a little. Robin Wright is magnificent, acting the role she was apparently born to play, and the supporting cast is note-perfect. There are elements that were a little disappointing in this season - one arc that began in Season One was resolved not with a whimper but with something even more underwhelming - but it’s still a great continuation of a brilliant series. Watch this if you aren’t already, which you probably are.
