This was adorable.

I had reservations about this, because it looked a little too twee and hipsterish from the outside and I thought I’d hate Abigail Breslin. All unfounded, as it happened.

I love Paul Dano in this. I love Paul Dano in everything.

The music choices, too, were magnificent.

A couple of missed beats - I feel like Toni Colette could have been given more room, and there were a few points where the narrative sagged - but overall this was really enjoyable.
