Watched: Spring Breakers

I got home and wrote a thousand words about this, and I’m not yet sure where that’s going to end up (the two options being here or BWDR), so in the meantime here are a few observations:

  • James Franco steals this.
  • It’s the first time I’ve been sat in a cinema and had a huge grin on my face when the (mostly adolescent, laughing-at-the-Scary-Movie-5-previews) audience breathed a huge sigh of relief when the credits rolled.
  • I loved this and hated this. I’m obsessed with how real the subject matter is, which might be considered an achievement by itself, but this film is aggressively reliant on a certain type of cultural phenomenon that (being British, middle class and hopelessly introverted) I’ve never really experienced.
  • So many tits, so little titillation. Which is kind of brilliant.
