A couple of days ago, I got an email from a fastmail.fm address with what looked like a product serial key in it. Having bought a few games from Steam resellers before, that was the first place I went, and it gave me the above title.
Let me add a couple of things to that:
- The key was all the email contained
- The username, while not one I’m going to divulge, was a seemingly random string of letters and numbers that I’ve Googled to no avail.
- Responding to the email delivered a failure notice about five minutes later.
There’s something rather lovely about this. Arkham City is on sale this weekend, so it makes sense that it’s that and not something else, but somewhere out there is a person who wanted to give me something, without even wanting credit or thanks in return. And I have no idea why, but I’m grateful nevertheless.
Of course, this completely fucks up my next essay, but every sun has a fatal lining.
