Watched: Ocean’s Eleven

Observations:

  • First: in concurrence with all of this. Read that, then come back here.
  • I actually think Don Cheadle was deliberately going for the “bows and arra’s against the lightnin’” approach; so much of this is lovingly riffing off other heist films, and he wouldn’t be the first comedy cockney character. So he can stay.
  • This was made in 2001, and Brad Pitt’s still firmly fixed in Fight Club cockiness. And Matt Damon’s still doing that weird thing with his mouth. Like he’s trying to pick something out of his teeth.
  • There is so much going on behind Andy Garcia’s eyes. That last shot on his face is chilling.
  • This just seconds Andrew, and so many other people, but this film is just about perfect. Almost eerily so.
