Watched: The Book of Life (2014).

This was incredible. The animation was unique, the songs were fantastic, the story dealt with grown-up subject matter while staying accessible to kids and not making any ugly missteps (female agency is a big part of this film, which is a big deal given that it’s largely a film about two dudes vying for one girl’s affections), and it feels like a film that was made with love, rather than as a cynical attempt to grab some cash. I feel like I’m definitely going to see this again at some point.
